Tyres - they're not just round & black...

CHECKING TYRE PRESSURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TYRE MAINTENANCE FUNCTION YOU CAN PERFORM!

CHECKING TYRE PRESSURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TYRE MAINTENANCE FUNCTION YOU CAN PERFORM!!

IT REALLY IS WORTH REPEATING!

Always inflate tyres to the correct pressure. Check cold tyre pressures frequently. Correct tyre pressure is crucial for safe handling. Over inflation may impair ride comfort and reduce the contact patch between the tyre and driving surface of the tyres. Insufficient air pressure will result in poor handling and cause a tendency for the motorcycle to "wander". In addition, improper and insufficient tyre inflation will cause accelerated tyre wear, increased fuel consumption, less control and the possibilities for tyre failure due to an overload/under inflated operating situation.

Check your tyres' air pressure at least once a week, before long trips and adjust as per manufacturer's recommendations for 2-up and or fully loaded bikes.

Keep in mind that carrying passengers and heavy loads will require higher pressures (up to that indicated on the sidewall).

Familiarise yourself with your tyres recommended pressures, and check them regularly - you will be amazed at how something so simple can make your riding safer, more enjoyable, and give your tyre better mileage.
